If you’ve been looking to satisfy your taste buds during your South Africa vacation, here are the best Cape Town restaurants for all preferences, and occasions sourced by locals! Now I’m sure this list is hardly comprehensive and with a new establishments popping up frequently, I’m sure I’ll be updating this list before long!
One of the best parts of travelling through Cape Town is the meshing of diverse cultures which translates incredible local eats – I’ve never felt like I was running out of options and it was hard to not return to the same establishment so I can try other options. Restauranteurs take great pride in their cooking, whether you’re paying R50 / CAD$5 all the way to R300 / CAD$30 per dish. The diversity of choices, styles, price options are what makes Cape Town’s restaurants a standout in all of my travels!
As someone who lives in Toronto, another incredibly diverse city, I have high expectations and was ready to be blown away. When you’re in Toronto, you can have a Portuguese breakfast including pasteis de nata with espresso, delicious Middle Eastern lunch like the Turkish pide finished with a decadent kanafeh dessert, Taiwanese or Hong Kong-style bubble tea and bubble waffles if you need a bit more sweet and wrap up the day with a Brazilian picanha for dinner – all within a 15 to 30-minute drive!
You can say we’re very spoiled.
And how does Cape Town compare? It delivered.
