I started this blog post with the intent of sharing everything I bought from various stores during Black Friday but it turns out, I bought mostly makeup (AHAHAHAHAHA, really, in 2020!?) skincare and a kitchen item to round out this entire haul!
The Haul where I got Free Things: The Bay
Let’s kick things off with a haul that I got for free; I’ve had my eyes on a couple of limited edition sets from MAC that were exclusive to The Bay. My waiting paid off as The Bay released their annual (or semi-annual) discount code for $20 off $100 purchase. Cosmetics are usually excluded from any promotion so this was a good time to pick a few things up if you’ve been waiting for any holiday sale sets or gifts and get a bit of discount!
I ended up purchasing the:
- MAC Sleigh All Day Lipstick Trio ($32)
- MAC MAC X @OOPS_OHEMMA Influencer Kit ($69)
The discounted set was still eligible for a free gift with purchase – in this case, MAC mini lipsticks in Mehr and Chili which was a pleasant surprise! At this point, my total was coming up to around $91 including taxes; conveniently The Bay’s revamped points systems meant I could redeem my points towards any purchase, and I had more than enough points to pay off the total $91 including taxes with points! Talk about a worthy beauty haul!
MAC Lover and Black Friday Haul
By this time of the year, I (unsurprisingly) still needed to hit $150 (the minimum annual spend) to renew/re-qualify my MAC Lover status, so for Black Friday, the brand had a week-long sale on their site which changes daily. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the products came (1 day!) and took advantage of the Black Friday deals offered to MAC Lover members.
With the 30% off, I decided to pick up a few holiday sets that ended up being a total bargain from a price / value perspective. Value kits are my favourite things to buy with discount codes given they are already getting a “value” price and the added discount means you’re “double-dipping” on the sale in a good way. I wished I waited a bit longer as I did notice MAC having another deal later in the week, but here are the 4 items I got from the MAC Lover sale:
- 2x MAC Firewerk It Lip Kit ($49, available here)
- MAC Wow Factor Eye Kit ($55, available here)
- MAC Harmony Blush ($30, available here)
- MAC Sandstone Eyeshadow ($24, available here)
The day before Black Friday, MAC hosted another one of their 5 for $65 deals (Last year it was 7 for $77 which was a slightly better deal!) It’s a great way of stocking up on multiple full-sized MAC products for anywhere between $11-13 (depending if you bought last year or this year). In the US, the deal is 5 for USD$49 so an even better pricing for our friends in the south. The selection is limited/curated to select shades so it’s actually a bit of an inventory cleaning exercise on the retailer’s part but you can usually pick up / restock on your favourite items.
For this sale, I picked up the following items:
- MAC Art Library: Nude Model ($57, available here)
- MAC Prep+Prime Fix+, Fix+ in Rose, and Fix+ Magic Radiance ($36-39, available here)
- MAC Prep+Prime Natural Radiance in Pink ($49, available here)
The Ninja Foodi AirFryer TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker
After waiting for almost a year, I finally got my hand on the highly popular Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp Pressure Cooker ($299, available here) which I talked about in my kitchen post a while ago! Costco had the smaller airfryer model on sale for a bargain price of $80 (Other retailers have it for $150+ and only when it goes on sale did it come close to $120~) and I opted to go for the larger model that has the tendercrisp, pressure cooker / steamer settings as I figure I’d prefer to have more options to choose from as opposed to needing multiple small appliances!
Ever since I got this unit 4 weeks ago, I’ve not used the stovetop nor the oven at all! I am still quite amazed by how quickly the food gets cooked and how easy it is to throw everything into the cooking basket and clean everything up (I toss the baskets in the dishwasher once a week unless it’s really nasty in which case I’ll wash by hand every 2-3 days!)
The larger basket setting makes it perfect to cook all your protein, veggies, and carbs in one go and the food cooks within 10-20 minutes (and an added 10 minute prep time!) It’s such an impressive addition for the home and I can’t wait to cook and try out more recipes with it!
Can I tell you the best part of this purchase? I paid all of $30 for it even though the unit costs $299! I was able to find the unit on sale for $159.99 (the Cyber Monday price was $199.99) and since I had a $150 Amazon gift card from switching internet provider a few months ago, all I had to pay was the taxes! $30 for a $300 cooking unit is a total steal in my book!
Did you pick up anything during the Black Friday sale this year?
