One of the best deals during this Black Friday season was the MAC 5 for $65 sale (where you buy 5 curated items for $65). I was really glad to see the MAC Art Library: Nude Model ($57, available here), a curated palette by MAC Pro Artists featuring 12 shades. There are three palettes in the Art Library to choose from and the Nude model is the most versatile featuring a fantastic selection of nude colours.
MAC’s eyeshadow formula’s are some of the best and most iconic in the market; I usually trade my Back 2 Mac packaging for eyeshadows, and more often lipsticks these days as the formula and colour options of both range really put most others to shame! To see this palette being included in the line up during the Black Friday deal was a total steal – if a nude palette isn’t your thing, the other options available include: Flame-Boyant ($57, available here) and It’s Designer ($57, available here).
The price of purchasing the pot or pan eyeshadows individually will cost you more than the palette so it’s worth considering picking these up during MAC’s Lover events or holiday events like the Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Boxing Day sales.
MAC’s custom eyeshadow palettes (especially those released as part of a collection) tend to be hit or miss; they quality are often subpar with chalky textures, lack of pigmentation being key issues. I hope that popping the permanent / full-sized shades meant this is a better quality than the hit-and-miss palettes.
This palette features mostly neutral shades that are mostly mauve, neutrals and plums. They work beautifully on most skintones so it’s a great palette to get for yourself and also to gift to others. There’s a good mix of shimmers/frost, satin, and matte colours.
These eyeshadows work beautifully for the day or night and similar to the classic nude palettes that are made popular by Urban Decay, LORAC and the likes. The pigmentation / quality of the formula makes these easy to combine and mix and match easily! The colours included in this are mostly repeats from past collections and/or permanent line-up which makes it easy to repurchase if you like one colour and go through it faster than the rest.
I really appreciate the names are labeled directly over the clear plastic insert – makes it easy to reference shades instead of flipping the palette upside down or having the labels on a separate insert.
Overall, the The MAC Art Library: Nude Model is a great addition to anyone’s makeup collection – at $57, the palette is already a steal; if you can get the palette during one of their popular sales, it’s a much better value!
