Aside from the biweekly grocery trip, and the occasional Homesense/Ikea/Home Depot trips, I’ve not stepped inside a mall for ages. My wallet thanks me, my bank accounts do as well and not having to weave through groups of people kept my sanity in check.
Having several gift cards burning a hole at home (sorry, why can’t that gift card be used online – it’s 2020!) and since it’s pretty much the end of the summer (which means, back to school / end of summer / Nordstrom Anniversary sales and more), I finally made it to a mall for the quickest in-and-out shopping trip (no browsing, just the 3 stores I meant to visit) on top of all the online shopping I was doing.
When I arranged all these goodies for photographs, I realized that I’d mostly bought moisturizers and that I bought two of each items pictured here – because efficiency? Either ways, it’s a small haul but should last me until the holidays to stock up!
Sephora Welcome Back Sale
Continuing on from my 2019 Sephora holiday haul where I stocked up on mostly hair goodies, I picked up 2 of the MoroccanOil Great Hair Day Set ($54, sephora.ca) which comes with a full-sized MoroccanOil Treatment Oil (my favourite product of the moment!) and a hair brush. While I’m not thinking a hairbrush is worth the $54, the set includes the treatment oil which retails for $50 and for a $4 more, I suppose you’re getting a nice-looking brush? That being said, I ended up ordering two of these set to qualify for the $20 off $100 from the Sephora Welcome Back offer.
When picking up my prescription recently, I was surprised to spot this new-to-me Embryolisse Lait-Crème Fluide ($39, Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique) which is a lighter version of the original cult-favourite Creme. Although this product is marketed as being lightweight, I’ve always found the original Creme as being very moisturizing without being greasy (great to apply as night cream) I’m happy to report that the lighter version is equally moisturizing even with a lighter texture!
I ended up picking two of these as they were discounted to $29 for a 500ml bottle; in addition to using this a moisturizer, the beauty of many French skincare brands and their formulas is that they are quite multipurpose. The product itself can be used as a body moisturizer, face cleanser and makeup remover, after-sun and aftershave care!
Surprise Clinique Promotion – Clinique iD + Concentrate Deal
I had been kicking myself for an age for missing out an old deal where you can pick up the Clinique iD custom personalized moisturizer for $29. Well, consider my patience rewarded as the deal came back, exclusively at Clinique.ca (and it showed up a few days later on sephora.ca though most of the options were sold out) and you bet I made my order right away! Best part of that? For any orders over $50, you get a full-sized cleanser ($56 value) as well! Basically for $65 (including taxes), I got 3 full-sized products!
I was pleasantly surprised to see they have more moisturizer and concentrate options so it was great to try some new formula. I ended up getting the tone-up gel + concentrate with ginseng (for sallow skin) and the Lotion+ with the concentrate with sakura (for reactive skin). I’m pretty excited to use these as the Lotion+ was my Mom’s go to moisturizer!
A few days after the Sephora’s Welcome Back offer expired, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Clinique iD + concentrate $29 deal was available as part of the sale section. In my excitement to pick them up from Clinique, I forgot to pick one up for Mom! This was her go-to moisturizer so I got another two for her Christmas gifts including the Lotion+ with the Active Cartridge Concentrate™ for Irritation and the Gel moisturizer which has whey protein in it. I can’t believe I’m starting Christmas shopping as early as August!
